Plan your evaluation
Write down the workflow, systems, operating owner, and evidence needed to make your decision. Use the same scope for every supplier, and ask which parts of the demonstration are included in the proposed package.
Workload and data coverage
List the systems, SaaS services, databases, and configurations needed to restore a business process. Identify exclusions and dependencies between them.
Recovery planning
Agree on the acceptable loss of recent work and the time available to restore service. Use these requirements to design a practical restore exercise.
Recovery access and resilience
Inspect who can change retention, delete copies, or authorize restores. Test the recovery process when the usual production administration path is unavailable.
Questions to ask
- Can we restore a complete business workflow rather than a single file?
- Which identities can delete or change the recovery copies?
- What did the most recent restore exercise actually demonstrate?
